ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
Large double-ended car and passenger ferry built in the USA in 1967, one of a class of four high-capacity vessels designed for busy commuter crossings. She measures 116.5 m overall with a 22.3 m beam and 2,704 GT, and was certified for up to 2,500 passengers and 144 cars, including up to 30 commercial vehicles. Diesel-electric propulsion of about 8,000 hp (6,000 kW) gives a service speed of about 17 knots, with a wheelhouse and propeller at each end for quick turnarounds without turning. Passenger spaces include a large main-deck cabin with booth seating, an upper lounge and open and sheltered outside decks. She was retired in 2019 after more than 50 years of service on sheltered inland waters and has been laid up since. A 2025 survey found the hull structurally sound but overall condition fair to poor, and navigation equipment, radios and lifeboats have been removed. Offered as is, where is with no minimum bid; the buyer must arrange an approved tow and show a viable use. Suitable for refurbishment, static or alternative use, or recycling. About This Vessel
QPS Marine Ships offers double-ended car ferry S2846 for sale, a high-capacity 116 m US-built ferry that carried up to 2,500 passengers and 144 cars at 17 knots. Retired in 2019 and laid up in the Pacific Northwest, she is a candidate for a full refit and return to service, conversion to a floating venue, office or accommodation platform, or recycling. Her diesel-electric plant and double-ended layout made her a workhorse on busy commuter routes for over five decades. She is sold as is, where is, with no minimum bid, and recent survey reports are available to serious buyers. Navigation and safety equipment has been removed, so a buyer should budget for recertification or a towed delivery. Price on application.
